Doing Anthropology with More than Words

LORENZO
FERRARINI

I am a visual anthropologist based in Manchester UK, where I teach ethnographic documentary at the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, University of Manchester. Because I think photography, video and sound recording can add so much to our knowledge of people’s lifeworlds, I use all of these three media in my ethnographic practice. Visual anthropology is for me an approach to telling people’s stories that crosses borders between science and the arts, so I always keep in mind methods, aesthetics and ethics. I also do some graphic and web design.

This website displays the best of my production so far, giving space to the images and sounds I recorded in Africa and Europe. Please take your time to browse my portfolio and check out my current projects.
