Doing Anthropology with More than Words

LORENZO
FERRARINI

I am a visual anthropologist based in Manchester UK, where I teach ethnographic documentary at the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, University of Manchester. I think that photography, video and sound recording can add so much to our knowledge of people’s lifeworlds, so I use all of these three media in my ethnographic practice. Visual anthropology is for me an approach to telling people’s stories that crosses borders between social science and the arts, and allows to share the outcomes with wider audiences.

This website displays the most of my media production so far, especially giving space to the images and sounds I recorded in West Africa and Europe but also including some texts. Please take your time to browse my portfolio and check out my most recent updates.
